Thailand appoints National Bank President Vitee as Central Bank Governor.

According to Thai government spokesman Sasikan, the Thai cabinet has approved the appointment of Veerathai Santiprabhob, the current chairman of the Government Savings Bank, as the next governor of the central bank. The new governor will take office on October 1st. Following the announcement of the appointment, the Thai baht has maintained a moderate increase. Veerathai will succeed the current governor, Veerathai Santiprabhob, whose term as governor of the Bank of Thailand will end on September 30. Veerathai's nomination was proposed by Finance Minister Apisak Tantivorawong from a list of two candidates, which also includes Ronadol Marikamas, the deputy governor of the Bank of Thailand.
