On July 18th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian chaired a regular press conference. In response to reports of Cheung Kong selling ports, Lin Jian said, "I am not aware of the situation you mentioned. Regarding Cheung Kong selling overseas ports, China's State Administration for Market Regulation will protect market fair competition in accordance with the law and safeguard public interests." Lin Jian emphasized that China has always been firmly opposed to using economic coercion and bullying to infringe on the legitimate rights and interests of other countries.
