African stock market closing report: Nigeria's stock index rose more than 1%, hitting a new closing high for several consecutive days, while South Africa's stock index rose more than 0.3%, holding steady near its historical peak.
On Thursday, the South African FTSE/JSE Africa Top 40 Tradeable Index closed up 0.35% at 89613.00 points, continuing to fluctuate at high levels since July, reaching a new intraday high of 90419.24 points on July 10. The South African Rand is currently down 0.13% against the US Dollar, trading at 17.84 Rand; on the daily chart, it has been fluctuating at high levels since mid-June, reaching 17.4872 Rand on July 4 - close to the top of 17.2841 Rand on November 8, 2024 and 17.0356 Rand on September 30 of the same year. The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index closed up 1.02% at 130,000 points, reaching a new closing high for multiple days in a row. The Mauritius Stock Exchange SEMDEX Index closed up 0.04%, while the Nairobi Stock Exchange All Share Index closed up 0.12%.
