Wildfires are rampant in eastern Canada.
From July 14th to 16th local time, thick smoke and flames were seen in multiple forested mountain areas in the eastern coastal provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada. According to official reports, at least seven wildfires are raging in the province, destroying homes and forcing residents to evacuate. The Department of Fisheries, Forestry, and Agriculture of the province stated that the fire in Quidi Vidi has spread over an area of 12 square kilometers, and firefighting efforts are currently focused on extinguishing the flames. The wildfire season in Canada typically lasts from May to September each year. In the past two years, Canada has experienced severe wildfires, with over 53,000 square kilometers burned in 2024 and a record-breaking 173,000 square kilometers burned in 2023. There are signs indicating that the 2025 wildfire season in Canada may continue to be active.
