Boston Fed President Collins: A stable economy allows the Fed to assess its next steps.
Boston Federal Reserve Bank President Susan Collins said she still believes the U.S. central bank can be patient in considering interest rate cuts and pointed out that corporate and household balance sheets are in good shape, which could mitigate the impact of tariffs on the economy. "The overall economic conditions remain solid, allowing the Fed time to carefully assess various new data," Collins said in prepared remarks for a National Association for Business Economics event in Washington. "Therefore, in my view, the current approach of maintaining 'active patience' in monetary policy remains appropriate."
