In the southeast of the capital city, GE Healthcare's smart factory in Beijing covers an area of over 40,000 square meters, producing a variety of high-end medical equipment such as surgical machines, CT scanners, and X-ray machines, as well as components for detectors, supplying over 100 countries worldwide. This is a microcosm of the level of "Beijing smart manufacturing" and also the first "lighthouse factory" in the Chinese medical equipment industry. The "lighthouse factory" is considered to represent the highest level of intelligent manufacturing. A recent visit by reporters found that a production line at the Beijing base is equivalent to a factory overseas for GE Healthcare. For example, in the production of orthopedic surgical machines, the production capacity of a line with only 20 people is equivalent to a factory overseas with two to three hundred people.
