Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange officially releases the second batch of temperature indices, covering four city clusters including the Pearl River Delta and North China.

Recently, the second batch of temperature indexes jointly developed by Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange and the National Meteorological Information Center was officially released. The indexes cover four city clusters including the Pearl River Delta, North China, Central Plains, and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, containing daily average temperature, daily cooling degree days, monthly cooling degree days, and other types of indexes. The relevant person in charge of Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange stated that in the next step, the exchange will continue to aim to launch weather derivative products, strengthen cooperation with meteorological departments, guide and cultivate the temperature index basic market in an orderly manner, explore and expand the application scenarios of the indexes; and enhance research on weather derivative products, conduct feasibility studies on the design of temperature index futures and options.
