Recently, the Cyberspace Administration of China, together with the financial regulatory authorities, lawfully dealt with a group of accounts and websites spreading false information about the capital market, engaging in illegal stock recommendations, and hyping virtual currency trading. Some typical cases are now announced as follows:
1. Accounts like "Love Stocks App" spread false information about the capital market. Weibo account "Love Stocks App," TikTok account "Value Discoverer," and WeChat public account "Captain Jack Macro Strategy" spread false information regarding things like the margin trading system and rumors about quantitative fund regulatory policies. Baidu Baijia account "North Bear Meow" released false information about changes in the trading hours of the capital market. The involved accounts have been lawfully closed.
2. Accounts like "Kange Talks Finance" engage in illegal stock recommendations. TikTok accounts "Kange Talks Finance" and "Falling Leaf Peak," WeChat public accounts "Little Dolphin Big Dream" and "Feng Qingyang Daxia," Weibo accounts "Langsha Taogin Xia" and "Niu Bian Tianxia-," Kwai accounts "Financial Old Leeks" and "Golden Leaf Finance," etc., through provocative or suggestive language, guide investors to pay to join groups to buy certain stocks, suggest predicting stock trends, promote that buying certain stocks will guarantee profits, and engage in illegal stock recommendations. The involved accounts have been lawfully closed.
3. Accounts and websites like "Fire Brother Talks Cryptos" promote hyping of virtual currency trading. Weibo accounts "Fire Brother Talks Cryptos," "Finance-Xu Yanwen," "Arn-Coin Forum," Zhihu account "Post-00 Wealthy Generation," etc., induce netizens to participate in virtual currency trading through sharing group chat information, profit screenshots, etc. Domestic websites like pkex, weex, htx provide application download services or indirect trading services for overseas virtual currency trading platforms. The involved accounts and websites have been lawfully closed.
4. Accounts like "Xiao Bei Yo" spread black and grey financial information. Xiaohongshu accounts "Xiao Bei Yo" and "San Xiansheng," Baidu Baijia accounts "National Help You Loan" and "Shi Quan Jiu Mei," etc., spread scripts like "debt optimization," "negotiated repayment," "professional anti-collection," "full refund of insurance," fabricate successful cases, induce and incite financial consumers to use suspected illegal means to safeguard their rights, disrupt the normal order of the financial market, and infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of financial institutions. The involved accounts have been lawfully closed.
The Cyberspace Administration reminds netizens to establish a correct investment concept, enhance risk prevention awareness, strengthen the ability to discern financial information, not to spread rumors, not to believe rumors, stay away from illegal financial activities, and guard against personal property losses or information leakage. At the same time, the Cyberspace Administration will continue to maintain high pressure in cracking down on illegal activities and calls on netizens to actively report problematic clues.
