Shanghai Shipping Exchange: The acceleration of upstream port clearance and the comprehensive coastal freight index is on the rise.
On May 24th, the weekly report on the Chinese coastal shipping market released by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange showed that this week, end-of-month demand and previous observation demand were gradually being released, with upstream ports accelerating clearance and downstream procurement showing slight improvement. In addition, the vessels turnover in the East China region was affected by rainy weather, leading to an increase in the composite index. On May 23rd, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange announced that the comprehensive freight index for the Chinese coastal region closed at 1043.35 points, a 4.1% increase from the previous period.
