On October 10, Sichuan and Chongqing jointly issued the "15th Five-Year Plan Implementation Plan for the Construction of the Chongqing Metropolitan Area," which explicitly proposes that by 2030, the GDP of the Chongqing metropolitan area will reach more than 3.6 trillion yuan, the urban population will reach more than 20 million, the "metropolitan area on rails" will be basically completed, the coverage rate of the population with 1-hour commuting conditions within the metropolitan area will reach 75%, and the supporting rate of "Chongqing-made" automobiles in the metropolitan area will increase to more than 70%. Specifically, the Plan delineates four major key tasks: First, implement a commuting efficiency improvement project and build a convenient and efficient commuting circle. Second, optimize the layout of the industrial chain and innovation chain, and cultivate a tiered and supporting industrial circle. On the one hand, promote the high-end development of industries in Chongqing's central urban area, consolidate the main battlefield of the "33618" modern manufacturing cluster, and accelerate the construction of the "9611" modern service industry system; on the other hand, strengthen the industrial supporting functions of surrounding cities, support the Yuxi region and Guang'an City in developing complete-vehicle and complete-machine supporting industries for complete vehicles, complete machines, and complete sets oriented toward the central urban area, guide Yudong New City and Guang'an City to cultivate and strengthen industries such as advanced materials and biomedicine, and support the Sichuan-Chongqing Gaozhu New Area in cultivating and strengthening industrial clusters for intelligent connected new energy vehicle supporting facilities and new materials, striving for the number of industrial enterprises above designated size in the new area to exceed 80 and total output value to exceed 10 billion yuan.
