The maximum electricity load of Jiangsu's power grid has surpassed 160 million kilowatts.

According to State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd., on July 31, the peak electricity load of the Jiangsu power grid set a new historical record, surpassing 160 million kilowatts for the first time, reaching 160.9 million kilowatts. In the first half of this year, the total electricity consumption in Jiangsu reached 427.859 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 5.57%, which is 2.25 percentage points higher than the same period in 2025. Ruan Wenjun, director of the marketing department's market division of State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Co., Ltd., stated that the high temperatures since the onset of summer have driven a concentrated release of air conditioning load, becoming a direct catalyst for the surge in electricity load on the Jiangsu power grid. Further analysis shows that while air conditioning load has rapidly increased, its proportion is 6.3 percentage points lower compared to 2025's peak load. The main reason for this is the strong growth in electricity consumption from industries such as computer and communication equipment manufacturing, charging and swapping services, and internet data services, which saw year-on-year increases of 8.4%, 57.8%, and 26.5%, respectively.
