Ministry of Transport: Implementing the renovation of 80,000 kilometers of transportation infrastructure during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.

On July 21st, Xu Chengguang, Deputy Minister of Transport, stated at a press conference at the State Council Information Office that the overall goal during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period is to basically complete the modernization of the comprehensive transportation system. In terms of optimizing the transportation structure, the focus will be on promoting the renovation and digital transformation of transportation infrastructure. By 2030, about 80,000 kilometers of facilities will be renovated, a new round of rural road improvement actions will be implemented, and 500,000 kilometers of rural roads will be newly constructed or renovated. In terms of strengthening system integration, the key focus is on improving the comprehensive urban transportation system, implementing efficiency improvement projects for urban commuter transportation within metropolitan areas, accelerating the construction of 20 international and 80 national comprehensive transportation hubs, implementing intermodal transportation breakthroughs, addressing bottlenecks and checkpoints, and striving to promote the functionality of intermodal transportation at 1000 major freight nodes within the next five years.
