According to a recent report by the US Columbia Broadcasting System, a supervisory report from the US Department of Defense states that a $469 million ammunition factory built in Mesquite, Texas was unable to produce qualified components for 155mm shells for two years after completion, causing the US military's increased production plan for shells to be unable to be realized. The report indicates that in the past four years, the US military's inventory of 155mm shells has decreased by 3.6 million rounds, but the report does not specify how many rounds are currently left in stock.
