As Typhoon "Bavi" approaches, the Shanghai Flood Control Headquarters activated its wartime command mechanism yesterday morning, with 27 member units stationed, six working groups operating at high speed, 2730 flood relief teams, 185 mobile pumps, and 416 flood control material warehouses on standby. The water department has already implemented pre-lowering and pre-dewatering measures for the water levels in the rivers and drainage networks across the city, freeing up a storage capacity of over 4.5 billion cubic meters. The emergency department has started organizing the evacuation of residents from coastal areas in Pudong, Fengxian, Jinshan, as well as dangerous areas such as Lingang New Area, chemical industrial zone, and Yangshan Port this morning, with 34,000 people evacuated by noon. The departments of urban and rural construction, housing management, greenery maintenance, and electricity are also focusing on addressing weak links, and are actively identifying and rectifying hidden risks. Other departments are also diligently inspecting and implementing various defense measures according to their respective responsibilities.
