About 400 kilometers from the border of Zhejiang and Fujian, the outer cloud system of Typhoon "Bavi" is currently affecting Shanghai.
According to the China Meteorological Administration, Typhoon Bavi, the ninth typhoon of the year, strengthened from typhoon level to strong typhoon level this morning, but weakened back to typhoon level at 11 a.m. The center of the typhoon is located about 400 kilometers east-southeast of the border between Zhejiang and Fujian provinces in the ocean, with maximum winds near the center of 13 on the Beaufort scale and a minimum central pressure of 950hPa. It is expected that "Bavi" will move rapidly northwestward at a speed of around 30-35 kilometers per hour, with little change in intensity. The typhoon is expected to make landfall along the coast of Wenzhou to Pingyang in Zhejiang Province on the night of the 11th to the early hours of the 12th, with a strength of either strong typhoon level or typhoon level. The Shanghai Meteorological Service Center stated that due to the impact of the outer cloud system of Typhoon Bavi, the wind in Shanghai began to increase gradually last night. From this morning, there will be southeast winds of level 6, gusting to level 7-8, and along the river and coastal areas, winds of level 7, gusting to level 8-9. Everyone should secure outdoor racks and items in a timely manner.
