A sudden wildfire broke out in the south of France, with an affected area of about 800 hectares.
A wild fire broke out in the Aude and Ariege provinces in southern France on July 1st. By that evening, the area affected by the fire had reached 800 hectares, with hundreds of firefighters, 6 firefighting planes, and 1 helicopter deployed to extinguish it. The Aude province stated, "The wildfire started in the Boffel area of the Ariege province, spreading to the Aude province with an area of approximately 400 hectares." Prior to this wildfire, France had been experiencing a heat wave for several days, with strong winds and drought causing the fire to spread rapidly in low-lying and extremely dry vegetation.
