Mao Weiming meets with the delegation of the Sino-German Automobile People's Association.
On the afternoon of the 6th, Mao Weiming, Deputy Secretary of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Governor, met in Changsha with a delegation of the Sino-German Automotive People's Association led by Zhang Lihua, President and CEO of Webasto Group in China. Vice Governor Yu Hongsheng and Secretary General of the Provincial Government Wang Weian also attended the meeting.
The Sino-German Automotive People's Association is an industry high-end platform for Sino-German automotive industry cooperation in China, with members including senior executives of nearly one hundred leading companies in China such as Schaeffler, Bosch, and Webasto. It serves as an important bridge linking German industrial resources with domestic industries.
Mao Weiming welcomed the guests and briefly introduced the development of the automotive industry in Hunan. He stated that in recent years, Hunan has implemented the important speeches and instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on Hunan's work, anchored the blueprint of "Three Highs and Four News," continued to vigorously build a national important advanced manufacturing highland, accelerated the construction of a modern industrial system, focused on promoting the transformation and upgrading of the automotive industry, and made solid progress with a gradually complete industrial chain, expanding scale and volume, and accelerating development of intelligent connected vehicles to maintain a leading position nationwide. Currently, the province has built a complete new energy industry chain from battery materials, electric motor control, power batteries to vehicle manufacturing. Last year, the province produced 1.626 million vehicles, an increase of 30.7%, of which 1.04 million were new energy vehicles, an increase of 34.9%, ranking among the top in the country.
Mao Weiming emphasized that Germany is Hunan's largest trading partner in Europe, with a total import and export volume of 17.09 billion yuan last year, an increase of 14.1% year-on-year. The automotive industry is the most closely linked cooperation field between the two sides, with Bosch, Schaeffler, Mahle, and other German companies expanding and developing in Hunan, with a solid cooperation foundation and obvious complementary advantages. He hoped that the Sino-German Automotive People's Association would conscientiously implement the important consensus between the leaders of the two countries, play a bridging role, promote more German companies to set up more new products, technologies, and production capacities in Hunan, strengthen collaborative research on key technologies, expand application scenarios together, assist in strengthening and complementing the automotive industry in Hunan, improving industry added value and competitiveness.
