Senior Assistant to US Secretary of State Rubio promoted to Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.

According to a report from the American Axios news website on the 26th, Michael Needham, senior aide to Secretary of State Rubio and director of the Office of Policy Planning at the State Department, has been promoted to Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. The report stated that Needham is taking over from Robert Gabriel, who resigned earlier this month, and is taking on one of the "most important positions of the Trump administration" as Deputy Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles announced Gabriel's resignation on the 20th of this month. Needham has been serving as Rubio's chief of staff since 2018 and later joined the Trump administration with Rubio. The position of Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs is currently held by Rubio.
