On May 20th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiajun hosted a regular press conference. A Bloomberg reporter asked, "Can the Foreign Ministry provide information on the measures taken by the relevant Chinese authorities to deal with the Ebola outbreak in Central Africa, especially measures related to the welfare of Chinese citizens in the region?" Guo Jiajun stated that in the 70 years since China and Africa established diplomatic relations, the two sides have always supported each other. From fighting Ebola to combating the new coronavirus, China has always stood with Africa through thick and thin. He mentioned that China is closely monitoring the Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, and will maintain close communication with relevant countries. Depending on the development of the situation and the needs of the other countries, China will provide assistance within its capacity, along with the international community, to help these countries overcome the epidemic as soon as possible. "Regarding the specific issue you mentioned, the relevant Chinese authorities have already issued announcements, and the Chinese embassies in the countries concerned have issued consular reminders to Chinese citizens in those areas to strengthen prevention. Currently, there are no suspected cases of Chinese citizens being infected," Guo Jiajun said.
