The comprehensive utilization pilot project of Shandong saline-alkali land and other arable land reserve resources has been successfully completed, with an annual increase in grain production capacity of approximately 73 million catties.
This afternoon, the Information Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province held a series of news release activities with the theme of "Being Enterprising, Taking Responsibility." They invited responsible officials from the Development and Reform Commission of Shandong Province to introduce the experiences and achievements of the pilot project for the comprehensive utilization of salt-alkaline land and other arable land reserve resources in Shandong. According to calculations, the pilot project has added approximately 34,800 mu of arable land and improved 115,900 mu of salt-alkaline farmland, exceeding the planned targets. The annual increase in grain production capacity is about 73 million jin. The salt content of the newly reclaimed land has significantly decreased, with 80% of the project areas dropping to below 3, and the quality of the arable land is no lower than the surrounding areas. After the transformation and improvement of the salt-alkaline farmland, the degree of salinity has significantly decreased, with the salt content of two projects dropping to below 1. The nutrient content of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, organic matter, and other nutrients has significantly increased, and the irrigation facilities in farmland have been further improved. At the same time, they have explored and summarized salt-alkaline land management models and technical paths suitable for different soil types, providing replicable and scalable experiences for the comprehensive utilization of arable land reserve resources nationwide.
