Tencent Music's Acquisition of Ximalaya Approved by Industry Insiders: Good News for Long-term Development of Online Audio Industry

The State Administration for Market Regulation issued a notice today approving Tencent Holdings Limited's acquisition of Himalaya Company with attached restrictive conditions. On June 10, 2025, Tencent signed an agreement with Himalaya through its subsidiary Tencent Music Entertainment Group to acquire Himalaya's equity according to the agreement and gain sole control of the company. Industry insiders point out that after this acquisition is completed, Tencent Music is expected to increase the competitiveness of Himalaya products through technology empowerment and improve the user's product and service experience, tap and create more high-quality long-form audio content, and benefit the long-term development of the online audio market.
