According to foreign media reports, Apple's next CEO, John Turner, is facing a major challenge as he takes office: retaining top talent during a period of historic personnel changes. After experiencing several relatively calm years, Apple has recently faced a wave of departures both from senior management and from grassroots engineers. Turner, who will take over as CEO in September from Tim Cook, will be tasked with stabilizing the employee workforce. Last year, the highly acclaimed chip business head, Johny Srouji, told Cook he was seriously considering leaving Apple. Apple recently managed to retain him by providing Srouji with a new compensation package and a wider range of responsibilities he is now the company's first chief hardware officer. Turner will need to address succession issues and other potential departures of high-level executives, including Mike Rockwell and several long-time leaders who are nearing retirement.
