According to Reuters, Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines announced on Friday that one of their Japanese liquefied natural gas carriers had passed through the Strait of Hormuz. A spokesperson for Mitsui O.S.K. Lines said that the crew on board the Panama-flagged vessel "SOHAR LNG" is currently safe, but did not disclose the specific time of passage through the strait or whether any negotiations had taken place for passage. Earlier on Friday, the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun reported that this was the first Japanese ship to pass through the Strait of Hormuz since the outbreak of the Iran war.
