Morgan Stanley's strategist recommended investors to directly buy five-year US Treasury bonds at a yield level of 4.06% in the report. Tradeweb data shows that the latest trading price of five-year US Treasury bonds yield is 4.022%. They also recommend investors to bet on the steepening of the yield curve from 7-year to 30-year bonds and enter at a level of 71 basis points. The strategist stated: "Since February 27, US Treasury bond yields have been trending higher along with energy prices, but we believe that recent price action in 1-year/1-year US CPI inflation swap trades reflects increasing downside risks to growth - stock indices are also starting to capture this." They believe that if energy prices continue to rise, downside risks to growth will further increase.
