US employers have exhausted the H-2B work visa quota for the second half of fiscal year 2026.
On March 20, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that the number of H-2B visa applications submitted by U.S. seasonal employers has reached the statutory cap for the second half of fiscal year 2026. The agency stated that this announcement means that there are 27,736 additional H-2B visa numbers available for positions with start dates between April 1 and April 30. The statement also noted that there are an additional 18,490 supplemental visa numbers available for positions with start dates between May 1 and September 30. The H-2B program allows employers to hire foreign workers for seasonal non-agricultural jobs. The statutory annual cap for the program is 66,000 visas, but the Trump administration authorized an increase of over 64,000 supplemental numbers in January of this year, continuing the practice from the Biden administration.
