Airbus China CEO Gung Xu: Aviation is the safest mode of transportation among all vehicles.
On March 18, 2026, during the annual meeting of the China Entrepreneurs Forum in Yabuli, at the "Manufacturing Forum" session on "Capacity optimization and value upgrade: demand-driven", Gu Gang, Global Executive Vice President of Airbus and Chief Executive Officer of Airbus China, shared his views. He stated that safety is the top priority in the aviation industry, and aviation is the safest mode of transportation. The lifecycle of an aircraft is over forty years, and safety needs to be integrated into the entire supply chain and every individual. Secondly, it is important to listen to the voice of the customer. He mentioned that Airbus currently has 1500 orders for the A350 globally, and although there has been a rapid decrease in demand for passenger aircraft during the pandemic, there has been a significant increase in demand for cargo aircraft. After listening to many customers, Airbus has introduced a cargo version of the A350, which will officially launch in the market next year. Thirdly, there is currently a lack of effective supply. He revealed that Airbus currently has 8700 orders waiting to be delivered, and the delivery volume has not yet reached pre-pandemic levels. Better management and coordination of the supply chain are the top priority tasks at the moment.
