Sichuan Province releases the investigation and assessment report on the "2.8" mountain landslide disaster in Junlian County.
On February 8, 2025, at 11:50, a sudden mountain landslide disaster occurred in Jinfeng Village, Group 2 of Muai Town, Yunlian County, Yibin City, causing 10 deaths, 19 people missing, and 2 injured. After the disaster, the Sichuan provincial government set up an investigation and evaluation team. The investigation and evaluation determined that the "28" mountain landslide in Yunlian was a composite natural disaster caused by continuous infiltration of rainwater softening the mudstone on a high and steep slope, resulting in a sudden high-altitude landslide that transformed into a long-distance debris flow. Under the continued effect of rainfall, the high-altitude rock mass slid rapidly downwards, impacting, scraping, expanding along the way, changing direction twice due to obstructions, with fast impact speed, long sliding distance, large impact range, and clear amplification effect and chain disaster characteristics of the disaster destruction.
