On January 24th local time, after nearly three years of suspension, Sudan Airways resumed operations. On that day, Sudan Airways launched a flight from Port Sudan, a city in eastern Sudan, to the Egyptian capital Cairo, and will also operate regular flights to the Saudi capital Riyadh and the second largest city Jeddah. Sudan Airways is the national airline of Sudan, headquartered in the capital Khartoum, and operates primarily domestic routes as well as international routes within North Africa and the Middle East. Following the outbreak of armed conflict in Sudan in April 2023, Khartoum International Airport suffered severe damage during the conflict and remained closed for an extended period of time, leading Sudan Airways to temporarily suspend all domestic and international flights.
