In 2025, 1.3977 million power banks will be recalled for safety issues.
Reporters learned from the press conference of the State Administration of Market Regulation on the 21st that the State Administration of Market Regulation has strengthened the recall work of defective power banks. By 2025, a total of 10 recalls will be supervised for mobile power supply production enterprises, involving a total of 1.3977 million units. Shi Xinzhang, Deputy Director of the Quality Development Bureau of the State Administration of Market Regulation, introduced that in 2025, there were multiple cases of fires and explosions involving mobile power products nationwide. The State Administration of Market Regulation attached great importance to this issue and carried out a concentrated rectification of the quality and safety of power banks. Defect investigations were conducted on the safety issues of mobile power products, urging production enterprises to fulfill their responsibilities as the main entity for product safety and recall defective products. At the same time, production enterprises were urged to respond to consumers' reasonable demands promptly and properly address any issues encountered during the recall process. Currently, the number of complaints on mobile power supplies on relevant complaint platforms has decreased by 85% compared to the peak in July 2025, and continues to show a decreasing trend. Shi Xinzhang stated that in order to enhance the quality and safety level of mobile power supplies, the State Administration of Market Regulation is guiding production enterprises to strengthen quality and technological innovation, establish a comprehensive quality control system for the entire lifecycle of mobile power supplies, and help enterprises break through the predicament of low-price competition. Next, the State Administration of Market Regulation will continue to strengthen supervision over the recall of mobile power products, increase efforts in collecting, investigating, and recalling information on problematic products, urge enterprises to strictly implement their legal obligations regarding the recall of defective products, and strictly deal with companies that conceal defects or fail to implement recall measures in accordance with laws and regulations.
