The latest World Tourism Barometer report released by the United Nations World Tourism Organization on the 20th shows that global international tourist arrivals are expected to increase by approximately 4% in 2025 compared to the previous year. The report states that in 2025, global international tourist arrivals will increase by nearly 60 million compared to the previous year, reaching 1.52 billion. At the same time, strong tourist spending will continue to drive global tourism revenue growth. Preliminary estimates suggest that in 2025, global international tourism revenue will reach $1.9 trillion, a 5% increase from 2024. The report points out that the growth in international tourist arrivals is driven by several factors, including strong global tourism demand, strong performance in major source markets, continued recovery of tourism destinations in the Asia-Pacific region, improved air connectivity, and increased visa facilitation measures. The Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Zurab Pololikashvili, emphasized that despite high inflation in the tourism service industry and uncertainty arising from geopolitical tensions, international tourism demand is still strong throughout 2025, and this positive trend is expected to continue in 2026. The United Nations World Tourism Organization predicts that international tourism will continue to grow in 2026, but challenges such as high travel costs and geopolitical risks will still be major concerns for the international tourism industry.
