Data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association on Tuesday showed that European new car sales in November increased for the fifth consecutive month compared to the same period last year, benefiting from the growth in electric vehicle registrations in markets such as Germany, Italy, and Spain. The market share of pure electric vehicles (an alternative indicator of sales) in the EU market reached 21%, while in the UK and Norway it reached 26% and 98% respectively. Tesla's market share in November was 2.1%, while BYD's was 2%. Overall, EU new car sales increased by 2.1%, approaching 900,000 units. The registrations of pure electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 44.1%, 38.4%, and 4.2% respectively, accounting for a total of 65.6% of the EU's total registrations, higher than the 56% in August 2024.
