Korean airlines say "zero tolerance" for tampering with aircraft cabin safety doors.
Korean airline Korean Air said on December 15th that in recent years there has been an increase in incidents of passengers "messing with" the cabin safety door, posing a threat to aviation safety. The company will adopt a "zero tolerance" policy towards such behavior, including filing criminal charges against offending passengers. According to Yonhap News Agency, Korean Air has experienced 14 incidents of passengers "messing with" or "attempting to mess with" the cabin safety door in the past two years, prompting the company to implement a "zero tolerance" policy in order to better safeguard aviation safety. Korean Air stated that in the future, they will file criminal charges against offending passengers, seek civil compensation, and place them on a "no-fly" blacklist. Under Korean aviation safety law, unauthorized opening of an aircraft door or emergency exit could result in a maximum of 10 years of imprisonment.
