Although the price of lithium carbonate futures has risen significantly in recent days, according to data from Zhuo Chuang Information, the average price of lithium carbonate has fallen this week in the spot market. As of December 11, the average price of battery-grade lithium carbonate this week was 92,200 yuan/ton, a decrease of 920 yuan/ton from the previous week; the average price of industrial-grade lithium carbonate was 91,100 yuan/ton, a decrease of 1,080 yuan/ton from the previous week. In the early part of the week, downstream buyers were actively purchasing at low prices, and transactions improved significantly compared to the previous weeks. However, the high price levels in the market have constrained immediate trading activity, and some holders have adjusted their sales pace towards the end of the year, slowing down shipments and causing caution among downstream buyers. In terms of supply, analyst Su Jinyi from Zhuo Chuang Information-Fu Bao Lithium Battery Analysis, analyzed that as of the week ending on December 11, the weekly production of lithium carbonate by enterprises was 21,500 tons, an increase of 0.9% compared to the previous week, with a corresponding capacity utilization rate of 48.75%. Apart from the new production lines in salt lakes, it can be observed that some enterprises have adjusted production based on the pace of raw material procurement, which is a routine adjustment behavior, while most other production lines have maintained their usual operating levels.
