Venezuelan international flights are reduced by 60%, local airlines plan to increase flights.
Reporters from the main station learned on December 5th the local time that following safety warnings issued by the Federal Aviation Administration of the United States and several European countries, a large number of international flights to and from Venezuela have been grounded in the past two weeks, resulting in a dramatic decrease of about 60% in the country's international air connectivity. Data released by the Venezuelan Airlines Association show that at the beginning of November, there were still 105 weekly international flights from Venezuela to 16 destinations operated by 12 foreign airlines. However, as of December 4th local time, all 12 foreign airlines have ceased operations. Currently, only 48 international flights operated by Venezuelan airlines are still running. To address the impact of the significant reduction in routes, some Venezuelan airlines have announced plans to increase flights to alleviate the impact. On December 4th local time, the Civil Aviation Authority of Colombia held discussions with three Venezuelan airlines on expanding bilateral air transport.
