"The Big Short" screenwriter blasts the Federal Reserve: There is absolutely no need for it to exist.
In a podcast interview on Tuesday, Michael Burry, the real-life inspiration for the movie "The Big Short", put forth a new viewpoint: America doesn't need the Federal Reserve. He said, "I don't think the Fed has done anything helpful. I think it is the simplest job in the world." Burry stated that he believes monetary policy can be guided by the U.S. Treasury, stating that "they are almost the same department already." Burry also mentioned that he believes the Federal Reserve has caused a lot of harm in the past century. He said, "I think if Trump ever takes control of the Fed, it could mean the end of the Fed. Because if he takes control of the Fed, everyone will hate it, not just me. We'll see."
