Zhejiang's "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" proposal: accelerate the construction of a modern marine industry system, strategically plan for future industries such as deep-sea intelligent equipment.

The Communist Party of China Zhejiang Provincial Committee has issued a proposal to formulate the 15th Five-Year Plan for the National Economic and Social Development of Zhejiang Province, in which it mentions accelerating the construction of a strong maritime province. It calls for deepening the construction of national demonstration zones for the development of the maritime economy, creating a source of innovation in maritime science and technology, and accelerating the building of a modern maritime industry system. This includes transforming and upgrading traditional advantageous industries such as petrochemicals near ports, high-end ships and marine equipment, and modern fisheries, as well as nurturing and developing emerging industries such as marine clean energy, marine new materials, and marine biomedicine. The proposal also includes forward-looking layouts for future industries such as marine electronic information, deep-sea resource exploration, and deep-sea intelligent equipment. It also calls for the establishment of a modern maritime governance system, promoting the development and utilization of marine energy resources and maritime islands and seas, strengthening marine ecological protection and restoration, and actively participating in global marine governance.
