On April 21st, according to the Ministry of Commerce, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce answered questions from reporters regarding the United States pressuring other countries to limit their economic and trade cooperation with China through tariff measures. The Ministry of Commerce stated that recently, the United States has indiscriminately imposed tariffs on all trading partners under the pretext of "reciprocity," while also pressuring others to engage in so-called "reciprocal tariff" negotiations with them. This is using the guise of "reciprocity" to promote hegemonic politics and implement unilateral bullying in the economic and trade field. Appeasement cannot bring peace, and compromise will not be respected. Seeking exemptions at the expense of harming others for one's own temporary gain is like seeking a tiger's skin, ultimately resulting in losing on both ends and harming others without benefiting oneself.

Reporter's question: According to reports from several overseas media outlets, sources have revealed that the Trump administration is preparing to pressure other countries in tariff negotiations, requesting them to limit their trade with China in exchange for exemptions from U.S. tariffs. What is the spokesperson's comment on this?
We have noticed the relevant reports. Recently, the United States has been indiscriminately imposing tariffs on all trading partners under the pretext of "reciprocity," while also pressuring others to engage in so-called "reciprocal tariff" negotiations with them.
China respects all parties resolving their economic and trade disputes with the U.S. through equal consultations. China believes that all parties should stand on the side of fairness and justice when it comes to the "reciprocal tariff" issue, and should uphold international economic and trade rules and the multilateral trade system. It needs to be specifically pointed out that China firmly opposes any party reaching a deal at the expense of Chinese interests. If such a situation arises, China will resolutely not accept it and will firmly take retaliatory measures. China has the determination and ability to defend its own interests.
Facing the impact of unilateralism and protectionism, no one can protect themselves. Once international trade returns to the law of the jungle where the strong prey on the weak, all countries will become victims. China is willing to strengthen unity and coordination with all parties, work together to resist unilateral bullying acts, uphold its own legitimate rights and interests, and defend international fairness and justice.
