National Energy Administration: The total electricity consumption in March increased by 4.8% year-on-year.

On April 18, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption for the whole of March. In March, the total electricity consumption was 828.2 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period last year. Looking at electricity consumption by industry, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 10.6 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 9.9%; the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 557.8 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 3.8%; the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 148.4 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 8.4%; and the electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 111.4 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.0%.
From January to March, the total electricity consumption reached 238.46 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 2.5% compared to the same period last year, with the electricity generation of large-scale industrial enterprises reaching 226.99 billion kilowatt-hours. Looking at electricity consumption by industry, the electricity consumption of the primary industry was 31.4 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 8.7%; the electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 152.14 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 1.9%; the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 44.65 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.2%; and the electricity consumption for urban and rural residents was 38.53 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 1.5%.
