According to the article released by State Grid on April 17th, in the first quarter, the cumulative newly added grid-connected capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation in the company's operating area reached 53.8 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 19.1%, reaching a historical high for the same period. In the first quarter, the company fully utilized the role of the power grid as a basic support, accelerated the construction of the "Shagou Desert" large-scale wind power and photovoltaic base and external transmission channels, efficiently promoted the construction of power grid supporting outgoing projects, and continuously enhanced the power grid's ability to accept, deploy, and control new energy.
The company added more than 50 million kilowatts of new energy grid connection capacity in the first quarter
This year's government work report proposed "actively and prudently promote carbon peaking and neutrality," and "coordinate the promotion of carbon reduction, pollution reduction, expansion of greenness, and accelerate comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development." State Grid Corporation of China earnestly implemented the spirit of the two sessions of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, focused on promoting energy green transformation, implemented detailed measures to serve new energy, ensured that new energy projects that comply with policies and are included in the plan should be connected as soon as possible, promoted the absorption and utilization of new energy, and fully supported the high-quality development of new energy. In the first quarter, the cumulative newly added grid-connected capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation in the company's operating area reached 53.8 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 19.1%, reaching a historical high for the same period.
Key engineering construction of the company is progressing in an orderly manner according to plan. In terms of AC projects, the expansion of the main transformer of the Changsha 1000kV substation has been approved; the electrical installation of the Tianjin South 1000kV ultra-high voltage substation expansion project has been basically completed; the basic construction of the Aba-Chengdu East 1000kV ultra-high voltage AC transmission line project has been started. In terms of DC projects, the Gansu-Zhejiang 800kV UHVDC transmission project in Gansu has started construction; the civil construction of converter stations for the Longdong-Shandong, Jinshang-Hubei, Ningxia-Hunan, and Hami-Chongqing 800kV UHVDC transmission projects has been basically completed, and the electrical installation, tower erection, and line stringing have basically completed; the civil construction of converter stations for the Shaanbei-Anhui 800kV UHVDC transmission project has been started, and the line erection works are being pushed forward; the civil construction of the Qinghai-Tibet DC project has been basically completed, and it has entered the electrical installation stage.
In the first quarter, the company coordinated development and safety, coordinated construction periods and progress, strengthened resource allocation and guarantee, and accelerated the construction of new energy outgoing supporting projects. State Grid's Northwest Branch innovatively implemented the new energy transient performance optimization work mode of "first optimization, then grid connection," and gradually applied it on a large scale at the supporting new energy bases of the Longdong-Shandong, Ningxia-Hunan, and Hami-Chongqing three DC projects, focusing on the debugging of the newly built UHVDC transmission end AC system and supporting power outgoing projects to ensure that the DC projects have the ability to transmit large power during the summer. On March 23, the 750kV Jinta transmission and transformation project in Jiuquan, Gansu was put into operation, providing strong support for the consumption and outgoing of new energy from local wind power bases of tens of millions of kilowatts and photovoltaic bases of hundreds of thousands of kilowatts.
The company implemented a variety of measures, optimized processes, and continuously improved the quality and effectiveness of new energy grid connection services. In the pre-project phase, various units formed professional teams to get involved early, proactively collaborated with new energy project owners, and coordinated the design of access system solutions; relying on the new energy cloud platform to carry out "online + offline" dual-channel services, to implement grid connection applications, approval of solutions and other business processes efficiently; tracking key projects, assigning dedicated customer managers to provide "one-stop" service. In the first quarter, the company cooperated with the National Energy Administration to revise and issue the "Management Measures for the Development and Construction of Distributed Photovoltaic Generation," promoted support documents in relevant provinces, deepened the normal mechanism for the development of distributed generation, carried out unified carrying capacity evaluation and analysis, and guided distributed photovoltaic to access and utilize nearby sources.
State Grid Shandong Electric Power implemented the "Clear Wind and Warm Sunshine" special action for new energy grid connection services, fully participated in new energy enterprises' project design review, quality acceptance, grid connection procedures processing, and promptly coordinated and resolved various demands. State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power piloted the distributed photovoltaic whole-village development model in collaboration with multiple parties to improve the efficiency of photovoltaic project promotion.
The company promotes the construction of a unified national electricity market, innovates long-term green electricity trading, and vigorously promotes the participation of new energy in the market. State Grid North China Branch utilized time difference to conduct off-peak transactions for Xinjiang photovoltaic green electricity to Beijing, achieving a win-win situation for all parties. By the end of March, the volume of green electricity transactions in the North China Power Grid reached 62.7 billion kilowatt-hours. An agreement was reached between Gansu and Tianjin for inter-provincial green electricity transactions from 2025 to 2029, becoming the first long-term green electricity transaction to land in Tianjin. State Grid Xinjiang Power improved the green electricity consumption market mechanism, expanded the scale of green electricity transactions using a combination of long and short periods and centralized bidding, continuously expanding the scale of green electricity transactions. By the end of March, Xinjiang had consumed 4.7 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity within the year.
