Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) China March deliveries fell 11.5% year-over-year, lagging behind competitors.

Tesla China sold 78,828 Model 3 and Model Y cars in March.
According to data from the China Passenger Car Association, Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) sold 78,828 Model 3 and Model Y cars in China in March. Due to intense market competition continuing to erode Tesla, Inc.'s share in the Chinese electric car market, sales of electric cars manufactured by Tesla, Inc. in China in March decreased by 11.5% year-on-year. However, sales increased compared to the previous month's 30,688 units. At a time when Tesla, Inc.'s stock price is falling, buyers are expressing dissatisfaction with the role played by Tesla, Inc. CEO Elon Musk in the Trump administration. Protests called "Down with Tesla, Inc." have emerged globally, with demonstrators accusing Musk of fueling far-right movements and calling for a boycott of the company. Tesla, Inc.'s performance also significantly lags behind its major Chinese competitors. BYD Company Limited reported a 23.1% year-on-year increase in passenger car sales last month, reaching 371,419 units. Other domestic electric car competitors including NIO Inc. Sponsored ADR Class A (NIO.US) and XPeng, Inc. ADR Sponsored Class A (XPEV.US) also announced higher sales growth. NIO Inc. Sponsored ADR Class A delivered 15,039 cars in March, an increase of 26.7% year-on-year, while XPeng, Inc. ADR Sponsored Class A delivered 33,205 cars, a 268% increase year-on-year.
