On April 1st, in response to the incident of a Xiaomi (01810) SU7 reportedly "colliding and exploding after a high-speed road accident causing casualties," Xiaomi's customer service personnel stated that the company has already set up a special working group to rush to the scene. They will fully cooperate with the police and family members to conduct a detailed investigation of the accident, assist the family members in handling the follow-up situation, and will announce the official information based on the actual investigation results. It is understood that the accident vehicle was a SU7 standard version. As for the cause of the accident, the number of deaths, and other details, the customer service representative stated that they have not yet received more information.
Previously, videos and images posted on the internet showed a new energy vehicle in Anhui colliding with the middle guardrail of a highway, catching fire and burning. Another burnt vehicle frame showed that the accident vehicle was a Xiaomi SU7, with its front end mostly destroyed. According to earlier media reports, a netizen claiming to be a passenger's family member stated, "On the night of March 29th, the vehicle hit the guardrail, causing the doors to lock, the battery to explode, and three people in the car were burned alive."
On the morning of April 1st, a staff member of the Tongling Emergency Management Bureau stated that the incident was a single-party liability accident and a road traffic accident, not a workplace safety accident. The Traffic Police Detachment had previously reported this situation to the bureau after the accident, confirming it was a one-party traffic accident.
On April 1st, Xiaomi announced that as of March 2025, over 29,000 units of the Xiaomi SU7 had been delivered.
