Trump's tariff policies backfire as the US agricultural trade deficit reaches a historic high.
According to Securities Times, the trade deficit of agricultural products in the United States further widened in July, highlighting the challenges faced by President Donald Trump in reversing this trend. Data released by the US Department of Agriculture on Monday showed that in July, the export value of agricultural products was $49.7 billion less than the import value, with a gap expanding by 9% compared to the same period last year, setting a record for the largest deficit in that month. This has led to an unprecedented agricultural trade deficit of $33.6 billion in the first seven months of the year.
