The North Korean Missile Bureau conducted an above-ground ignition test of a solid-fuel engine with carbon fiber.

The spokesperson of the North Korean Missile Bureau announced that the North Korean Missile Bureau and the local Chemical Materials Research Institute conducted another high-power solid fuel engine ground ignition test using carbon fiber reinforced plastic on September 8th local time. Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, observed the test. This is the ninth ground ignition test of the engine, which is the final test in the development process. The maximum thrust of the engine is 1971 kN. On that day, the government order awarding the Director of the Chemical Materials Research Institute and the Director of the Solid Fuel Engine Research Institute was approved. Kim Jong Un praised the development of the high-power carbon fiber solid fuel engine as the most strategically significant achievement in North Korea's recent efforts to modernize its defense technology, which indicates a major change in strengthening North Korea's nuclear strategic forces.
