At the press conference held by the State Council Information Office today, a relevant official from the Ministry of Commerce introduced that China has maintained its position as the largest trading partner of ASEAN for 16 consecutive years, while ASEAN has been China's largest trading partner for 5 consecutive years. It was reported that by 2024, China's bilateral trade volume with five ASEAN countries including Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore will all exceed one trillion US dollars, with the bilateral trade volume with Vietnam and Malaysia already surpassing two trillion US dollars. From January to July this year, the trade volume between China and ASEAN reached 597 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.2% year-on-year, accounting for 16.7% of China's total foreign trade during the same period. Vice Minister of Commerce Yan Dong stated that by July 2025, the cumulative bilateral investment between China and ASEAN has exceeded 450 billion US dollars, and Chinese companies have completed engineering contracts worth 480 billion US dollars in total in ASEAN. In addition, the negotiations for the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 have been completed, the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement is of high quality, and there have been new breakthroughs in regional economic integration.
