Guyana President Ali was sworn in at the presidential residence in the capital Georgetown on the 7th, officially starting his second presidential term. The Guyana Elections Commission announced on the 6th that the People's Progressive Party had won the national parliamentary elections held on the 1st, with the People's Progressive Party presidential candidate and incumbent president Ali being re-elected. The election results showed that the People's Progressive Party won 36 out of the 65 seats in the National Assembly, while the A Partnership for National Unity party won 16 seats, the Alliance for Change won 12 seats, and the The United Force won 1 seat.
