South Korea announced that negotiations with the United States have been completed and they plan to send a chartered plane to bring back the detained South Korean workers.
The South Korean presidential office announced on the 7th that they have completed negotiations with the U.S. and will release detained South Korean workers at a factory in Georgia. The factory is a joint battery factory between Hyundai Motor and LG Energy Solutions. After the relevant administrative procedures are completed, the South Korean government will charter a flight to Georgia. South Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong said on the 6th local time that 475 people were detained at a Hyundai Motor plant in Georgia, with over 300 of them being South Korean nationals. Chung stated that if necessary, he will go to Washington to negotiate directly with the U.S. federal government on this matter. South Korean President Moon Jae-in has called for a swift resolution to this incident, and the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs may immediately send senior officials to the U.S.
