Douyin e-commerce publicizes cases of fraud in phone bill recharges
On September 7th, according to the news from the Douyin E-commerce Safety and Trust Center, the platform has recently discovered during inspections that a small number of phone bill recharge merchants have had user information leakage issues due to inadequate supply chain management. This has resulted in consumers receiving fraudulent text messages or phone calls from unknown numbers after completing their recharge. The scammers falsely claim that the recharge was a "mistake" and ask users to return the phone bill offline to the unknown number, thus committing fraud. Such behavior seriously harms consumer financial security, undermines transaction fairness, and the platform has initiated special governance measures. As of now, the platform has cleared out 25 non-compliant merchants, frozen their funds according to the rules, and has added them to a blacklist, stopping cooperation with them.
