According to the report by the Ecuadorian Institute of Geophysics, a 5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the offshore area about 52 kilometers southwest of Lopez Port in Manabi Province, western Ecuador, on September 5 at 12:42:30 local time. The epicenter was located at 1.628 south latitude and 81.237 west longitude, with a depth of 18 kilometers. There were reports of noticeable shaking in many coastal areas of Ecuador and parts of Colombia, but currently there are no reports of casualties or property damage. Authorities are reminding the public to remain vigilant and to pay attention to official information.
