President Trump of the United States announced that "quite substantial" tariffs on semiconductors are forthcoming. Trump made the comments while answering questions from reporters during a dinner with technology leaders at the White House. He said he discussed the issue of tariffs with some of the technology leaders present at the dinner. He reiterated that tariffs will be imposed on companies that do not enter the United States. Trump said that if tariffs are implemented, Apple CEO Tim Cook will be fine.
