The newspaper quoted an unnamed source as reporting that Bank of China Hong Kong plans to apply for a stablecoin issuer license and aims to become one of the first issuers to be approved. The deadline for the first round of applications is the end of September. Bank of China Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority both declined to comment.
